Advocates for Opioid Recovery (AOR) is proud to join the Mental Health for UScoalition as we continue our work to break down barriers to recovery across the country. Mental Health for USis a nonpartisan, educational initiative focused on elevating mental health and addiction in national policy conversations by empowering grassroots advocates and improving candidate and policymaker health literacy.
With one in 12 American adults living with addiction, and one in five living with a mental illness, it’s clear our country is facing a crisis unlike any before. Mental Health for US marks the first time that leading stakeholders in mental health and addiction are standing together to demand policymakers prioritize prevention, access and intervention, and recovery.
“The opioid epidemic demands we make bold, structural changes to ensure that recovery services and supports are available to everyone in need,” said Anne Woodbury, Executive Director of AOR. “This nationwide group of dedicated organizations has the passion and influence to make that happen. We look forward to working with Mental Health for US to take a stand for the millions of Americans living with addiction and mental illness throughout the 2020 election cycle and beyond.”
