As Congress moves to vote on more than 50 bills responding to the opioid crisis, AOR urges legislators to support policies that would expand access to evidence-based treatment for opioid use disorder.

Advocates for Opioid Recovery encourages policymakers to emphasize recovery services as they consider legislation over the next two weeks. Specifically, AOR asks legislators to:

  • expand evidence-based treatment capacity
  • enforce parity and break down barriers to insurance coverage
  • decriminalize addiction
  • educate medical professionals and the general public on the disease of addiction and effective treatment options

AOR staff and members of the Survivors Council took to Capitol Hill last week to support H.R. 5776/S. 2875, which would expand coverage of Opioid Treatment Programs (OTPs) under Medicare. AOR has also signed onto group letters with fellow stakeholders to support issues:
